Thomas' widow Jane died in 1885 in Darcy Lever, aged 57 years. Jane's son Henry Middleton Staveley is visiting Strand, Middlesex during the 1881 census. Henry was married in 1884 to Elizabeth BULLOUGH. Henry and Elizabeth had three children, but Elizabeth died in the winter of 1890 aged 35 years, possibly during or shortly after the birth of their son Harold, who is only six months old in the 1891 census (Harold's birth was registered the same quarter as Elizabeth's death).

Henry Middleton Staveley died in 1899, aged 41, in Darcy Lever. The remainder of this family has not been located in the 1901 census.
The following was published in the London Gazette after Henry's death:
April 7, 1899 Re HENRY MIDDLETON STAVELEY Deceased. Pursuant to the Act of Parliament 22nd and 23rd Victoria cap. 35 intitled "An Act to further amend the Law of Property and to relieve Trustees." NOTICE is hereby given that all persons having claims against the estate of Henry Middleton Staveley late of 384 Manchester Road Great Lever Bolton in the county of Lancaster Colliery Agent who died on the fourteenth day of January 1899 and whose will was proved in the District Probate Registry of Her Majesty's High Court of Justice at Manchester on the twenty-second day of March last by Edwin Morris of Swan-lane Hindley near Wigan in the county of Lancaster Colliery Manager and Dorothy Staveley of Number 384 Manchester road Great Lever near Bolton aforesaid Spinster the executors therein named are required to send the particulars in writing of their claims or demands to me the undersigned on or before the fifteenth day of May 1899 after which date the said executors will proceed to distribute the assets of the said deceased amongst the persons entitled thereto having regard only to the claims and demands of which they shall then have had notice and they will not be liable for the assets of the said deceased or any part thereof so distributed to any person or persons of whose claims or demands they shall not then have had notice. —Dated this fifth day of April 1899.
