Adam Staveley was born in 1824 in Liverpool, the son of William Staveley and Mary, and baptized in April that year at St. Peter's in Woolton, Liverpool. Adam married his wife Sarah SPEAKMAN in Manchester in 1853, and they moved to Bradford, Manchester, by the 1871 census. By 1881 the family had relocated to Newton, Lancashire.
