John Henry Staveley was born in 1873, son of George Staveley and Jane Staveley of Dent, Yorkshire. In 1891 John Henry is residing with his uncle John Staveley in Ingleton. John Henry Staveley appears to have married his wife Elizabeth in the Settle registration district in 1894. The first of their children, Eleanor, was born in Bentham, and shortly thereafter the family moved to Lancashire where we find them in 1901:
