Hayfield, Derbyshire
This Staveley line originated from Hawes, Yorkshire, when Robert Lister Metcalfe Staveley and his wife Isabella (nee DINSDALE) moved their family here prior to the birth of their second son Jeffrey in 1899. Robert was born in Hawes in 1871, the son of William Staveley of Ingleton and his second wife Isabella METCALFE.
Robert Lister Metcalfe Staveley married Isabella DINSDALE on February 27, 1897 in Hawes, and at the time had the occupation of 'Carter'. They had a son, William Lister Staveley, born August 2, 1897 in Hawes, but the child died at the age of two in Hayfield in 1900, and his cause of death was recorded as "Catarrhal Pneumonia 10 days. Convulsions." Robert's mother, Isabella (nee METCALFE) also moved to Hayfield, likely with her son's family, and she died in 1899 at the age of 68.
After arriving in Hayfield, Robert and Isabella had at least five additional children. The first two are found listed in the 1901 census:
