A few years later Robert Ussher Staveley joined the Royal Navy on May 26, 1884 for a period of 10 years. His enlistment papers declare that he was a fireman by trade, 5 foot 71/2 inches tall, with light brown hair, and blue eyes. Robert served as a stoker on the Pembroke between May 26, and September 4, 1884. He died on September 4 of "Phthisis" (also known as tuberculosis), at Chelsea Hospital, London.
The story doesn't end here though. Shortly after Robert's death in 1884, Alice Elizabeth Staveley married George Loverock ORME, the same gentleman who is residing in Robert's household in 1881! In 1891 the family has moved to Hammersmith. By 1891 we find Alice with her son Robert residing in Fulham, Middlesex.
* Robert Ussher Staveley's Naval record declares Robert was born in York, Yorkshire on June 20, 1862. In the census however Robert declares he was born in Ireland.
