Josiah Staveley was born in 1864 Aldbrough, Yorkshire, England to parents Robert Staveley and Charlotte MAIR. By 1870 the family had left England, and settled in Brookfield, Clinton County, Iowa. Josiah and his wife Letitia are found living in Shelby in 1900:
