Clinton County is located on the far eastern edge of Iowa. Robert Staveley was baptized in Skirlaugh, Yorkshire on May 29, 1811 the son of John Staveley and Hannah TAYLOR. Robert and Charlotte's last known residence in England prior to emigrating to the United States was in Aldbrough, Yorkshire, where they are found during the 1861 census. In the 1870 US Federal Census, they are found residing in Clinton County, Iowa, but a record of their immigration to the United States has not yet been found:
