William Robert Staveley is the son of William Brown Staveley (1810-1890) and Eleanor ELWIN.  He was born in Falmer, Sussex and is found residing as a lodger in the OSBORNE household in Newhaven in 1861:

William married Mary Gertrude JACKSON on October 8, 1862 in Brighton.  Their first child Gertrude Jane Staveley was born in 1863.  In 1871 the family is found as follows:

In 1871 their daughter Gertrude Jane is visiting with her Grandparents in High Halden, Kent.

By 1881, William is visiting with his parents in High Halden.  His wife Mary Gertrude is visiting her brother-in-law, Frederick Winbolt Staveley, in Litherland, Lancashire.  By 1891 the family has relocated to Seaton Carew, in Durham.
