Henry Staveley was born in Liverpool to parents Richard Staveley of St. Alban Wood St, London, and Agnes Jane CARTER. He married Jessie T. GALBRAITH and was residing in Everton, Lancashire in 1871. By 1881 Henry had moved to Hornsey, Middlesex, and is found living in Margate, Kent by 1891:
