Kilnwick, Yorkshire

Robert Staveley b. December 18, 1737 is thought to be the son of Richard Staveley and Frances HUDSON of Kirkburn, located just 3 miles SE from Kilnwick.  Robert married Elizabeth RICHARDSON May 15, 1774 in Kilnwick, Yorkshire and they had the following children in the parish:

Thomas Staveley b. June 3, 1780 Kilnwick
Robert Staveley b. November 21, 1783 Kilnwick

Timothy Staveley b. January 7, 1794 Kilnwick

 

Daughter Frances married John HARRISON in Kilnwick on March 11, 1800.

Son Thomas married Frances MONKMAN on December 6, 1801 in Kilnwick.  They had the following children in Kilnwick, prior to settling in North Burton.

William Monkman Staveley b. December 12, 1802 Kilnwick
Nancy Staveley b. December 26, 1804 Kilnwick

 

Robert and Elizabeth's son Robert married Jane ATKINSON in Richmond, Yorkshire on October 26, 1808.  They had the following children in Kilnwick:

Robert (b. 1737) died in Kilnwick on October 23, 1816.  His son Robert (b. 1783) who married Jane Atkinson is widowed by 1851 but still found residing in Kilnwick.  Robert and Jane's son Joseph married Margaret MOORE November 17, 1842 in Kilnwick, and is residing in the household in 1851:

Robert's son George Atkinson Staveley died later that year at the age of 50.  Robert died in 1866 at the age of 84 years.  Robert's children are found residing in Kilnwick in 1871:

The Bankruptcy Act, 1869.

In the County Court of Yorkshire, holden at Kingston-upon-Hull.

In tbe Matter of Proceedings for Liquidation by Arrangement or Composition with Creditors, instituted by John Staveley, of Kilnwick, in the county of York, Farmer.

THE creditors of the above-named John Staveley who have not already proved their debts, are required, on or before the l6th day of February, 1876, to send their names and addresses, and tbe particulars of their debts or claims, to me, 'the undersigned, William Thirsk, of Beverley aforesaid, Cornfactor, the Trustee under'the liquidation, or in default thereof they will be excluded from the benefit of-the Dividend proposed to be declared.

Joseph's son Robert is missing from the household in 1871, and has not been located in the census.  However, Robert resurfaces in 1881 living in Drypool, near Hull, with his Uncle John.

Joseph's son William (b. 1847) is not residing in the household either.  William married Mary CLARK on October 27, 1870 in Kilnwick:

William and Mary move to Southcoates in Hull by 1881, apparently via Lund.

Joseph's wife Margaret died in 1878 at the age of 58 years.  Joseph is living in Lund in 1881, a lodger in the BARKER household
