About Future Hope

Sales of THE STAVELEY CLAN: 1,000 YEARS OF STAVELEY FAMILY HISTORY to benefit Future Hope:

It occurred to me that I could have posted the whole result on the Internet for all to see for free. However, I felt that more good could come out of the results of my decade of labours… and decided that a charity should benefit from the selling the ‘opus’ to all interested parties.

Therefore I have chosen Future Hope. This special children’s charity is based in Calcutta and was founded by a man who just happened to go to the same school as me. Set up in 1988 by Tim Grandage, Future Hope provides emotional support, education and shelter to the street children of Calcutta, including those who have suffered parental abandonment, illnesses such as leprosy, appalling sexual and physical abuse, and criminal exploitation. The charity currently has one school and five homes in India, for boys and girls aged 5 to 19, with more than 200 children in its care.

I trust you will agree that for those of us who have so much, these children who have so little deserve our help – and hey, you also get a great book about Staveleys out of it (plus bonus books!). Whatever I manage to raise out of the proceeds, I believe that it will be a lasting legacy to Staveleys everywhere if the donation went towards Future Hope’s new Sports Academy. Please do look at their website for more information and get a view on how funds are spent at www.futurehope.net
