St. Margaret Moses, London
Luke Staveley b. October 18, 1740 is the son of William Staveley and Rosamunda CATTLE of Hunmanby, Yorkshire. There appears to be some confusion regarding Luke's marriages and children, but it is known from his will that Luke married Elizabeth (Betty) MITCHELL in Halifax on May 17, 1780. There is some question as to whether Luke was married previously to Mary FROUD, and some further investigation is required in that regard. For now, however, we are aware from Luke's will, and the Halifax and St. Margaret Moses registers, of the following children born to him and his wife Elizabeth:

Records of birth have not been located for Maria, Susannah and Sarah, however each of them are mentioned in Luke's will. It is apparent that by 1791 Luke and his wife have returned to live in Halifax.
